๐Ÿฌ Sales origins

The sales origin answers a simple question about every order: where did it come in from? Etsy, your website, a trade fair, word of mouth, WhatsAppโ€ฆ Each workshop keeps its own list.

It's managed in Settings โ†’ Operations โ†’ Sales origins, by the Owner and the Administrators.

What it's for

  • On every order and every quote you choose where it came from, with a dropdown on the record. The order and quote lists also have a filter by origin with your origins, both the built-in ones and the ones you add yourself, plus Etsy, Shopify and Manual / No origin. A deactivated origin stays in the filter, so you can find what was already sold through it.
  • On the customer record you can store what that customer is called on each site. For example, that "Marรญa Lรณpez" is mlopez_3d on Etsy and @maria.imprime on Instagram. That way, when they write to you through one channel, you know who they are in your CRM.

It's what lets you answer things like "how much is the trade fair really bringing in?" or "is it still worth being on this marketplace?".

How the list arrives

Just as with carriers, when your workshop is created the list is filled in with the usual channels for your country, and you adjust it from there.

Two kinds of row

The channels that come with your country can't be edited or deleted โ€” only enabled or disabled. The ones you add can. If you don't use one of the built-in ones, disable it: it disappears from the order dropdown without deleting anything or losing the history.

Adding a channel of your own

Click "Add origin" and type the name exactly as you want to see it in the dropdown: Etsy, Website, Trade fair, Instagram, Repeat customerโ€ฆ

A piece of advice: use names by channel, not by specific campaign. "Trade fair" ages better than "Zaragoza fair, March"; for the fine detail you already have tags and order notes.

Relationship with marketplaces

If you have a marketplace such as Etsy connected, its orders already come in tagged with their channel automatically โ€” you don't have to set it by hand. The channels you manage here are mostly for what doesn't arrive through an integration: in-person sales, orders placed by messaging apps, your own website, etc.
